Merrylicious market

Mairehau Merrylicious Market

On Thursday the 29th of November Mairehau High School had a Merrylicious market which is a market where all the projects the year 9 and 10's have worked on for the term will be trying sell. Products spreading from bath bombs, soaps, furniture, bags, burgers, paintings, fries to face paint, photo booth, candy (Cotton candy,Toffee etc..), activities, books and mystery gifts. In total there was around 35 to 40 groups who all worked together to make the night happen.

My group included Jodie and Devin who worked together to make a photo board with a Christmas tree painted in the center and secured together in a silver ribbon was a touch of sneaky mistletoe. We also added in some hold up props that had a variety of handmade or bought from the shop.
At first we had trouble deciding what we should make. We ending coming up with rainbow/ colorful cotton candy...that plan didn't last long. A photo booth! So that's what we did. It took weeks of painting, planning and more painting. By the end of it we were all covered in mountains of glitter and paint.
We didn't succeed like we thought we would but then again we didn't have 'high hopes' (That song is the reason to live). The others in my group we kinda down and I don't blame them because I was a little down as well. But I think we shouldn't have a big fuss over it. It was our first year of doing the market and yes, there where a lot of amazing products from groups our year that got a good profit but a less we tried, Right?.
Nah, I'm hungry and too tired to be inspirational so... 'peace out'.✌

The Mystery Bag

In FLT which stands for ‘Flexible learning time’ we got to opportunity to do a program called
‘How to Adult’
We ended up doing lots of different tasks within a couple of weeks, one of them was learning how to cook. In cooking we had to pair up and cook something using only a Mystery box and an hour.
There was four at a table, two pairs, and one Mystery box which contained Mince, Pasta, Spaghetti, Garlic, Onion, Carrot and Tomato paste. My pair made spaghetti and mince while the other group made some pasta and mince.
I was working with Dakoda while Jodie and Devin were working together, even though we all worked together discreetly. (I gave away personal information whoops)

Our group was the only group that ended up not taking any pictures but here is some examples from the other groups.
The task was quite easy, at least for my group, because we already knew how to cook.

We didn't complain though because we ended up getting free food!
My favorite part of this task must be eating it because it was delicious but cooking it was also pretty fun and an adventure when we were starting to run out of time and we still had to clean up and mop the floors.
I enjoyed eating it the most because I mean how can you not enjoy eating, you do it all the time, to stay alive, if your hungry, bored, sad, stressed, for a celebration and because you just feel like it.
Normally this is the point were I say "What I've learned from this experience and what I'll try differently" But I didn't learn anything but I would change one thing, I tried to make spaghetti and meatballs but we didn't have enough time to put them in the fridge and let them set so we turned it into mince with egg and breadcrumbs in it which tasted pretty good and you couldn't even  taste them. Is this where I'm meant to end the post...uh...yea...bye.
